Kingfish Tournament Rules and Regulations

 

TAMPA BAY GRADY-WHITE CLUB 

Thirteenth Semi-Annual “SEASON LONG” Kingfish Tournament 

SPRING 2010 

 

Fish:                 King Mackerel ONLY; caught off the West Coast of Florida.

Must meet all federal and state regulations: 24” minimum, two per day per angler.

                        This is a “length” tournament, measured to the fork of the tail.

 

Dates:               Saturday, April 3rd through Sunday, May 9th

                        37 days, including six weekends  

                        (You may fish any or all days, captain’s choice.)

 

Time:                Tournament fish must be called in by telephone (leave a message if no answer), or messaged via e-mail,  

to one of the tournament captains, not later than 8:00 pm ON THE DAY CAUGHT

There are no other time conditions.

Eligibility:          This is a Tampa Bay Grady-White Boat Club MEMBER ONLY Tournament, with for the first time SunCoast Grady Club Members invited to join as well.  Although individual anglers do not have to be club members, eligible fish must be caught on a properly entered Grady-White boat, with the Club Member Owner/Captain on board at the time of the catch.

WELCOME SUNCOAST MEMBERS! NEW TBGWC MEMBERS WELCOME!  COME JOIN THE FUN.       

 

Honor                There is no ‘weigh-in’ or other verification.  You are on your honor, period.

System:            To be eligible, the fish must be caught by a single angler from hook-up to point of gaff. 

Length is to be measured to the fork of the tail.

 

Conser-             Please check the tournament standings, to be published periodically via e-mail, to determine whether

vation:               a fish is competitive, and if not, consider its safe release.  No one needs to unnecessarily kill kingfish

solely for the purpose of this friendly club tournament.

 

Safety:              This is a Captain’s Choice Tournament.  Captains, not the Club,

are responsible for all decisions including when, where and whether to fish.

 

Categories:        Largest eligible Kingfish, one per boat, see attached for breakdowns.

                        Note: in cases of ties, the earliest called in fish will prevail.

 

Entry Fee:         $50.00 per GRADY WHITE boat for Club Members in good standing as of 10/30/09.

Entry fees must be received in cash or check by TBGWC Club Treasurer Bill Eckerle

no later than FRIDAY, October 30th , and  for TBGWC club members, 2009 dues must be current.

Payout:             100% of the entry fees and cash donations, if any, will be returned to winners in cash.

Awards:            December TBGWC Boat Parade Meeting.

Only king mackerel (kingfish) are eligible, with money paid based on largest fish,

determined by length, measured to the fork of the tail.

 

This is a boat tournament, one prize only per each winning boat, no other categories.

 

In the case of ties, earliest called in fish prevails.

 

In the case on any dispute, the tournament captains’ decision will be final.
